Mel here, Its around that time of the summer when all the festivals start happening, and lately more and more people are starting to go. Recently I went to Bonnaroo in Tennessee, which is one of the biggest festivals! They had all my favorites there ; SZA, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, ODEZSA, Mumford and sons, Shaky Graves, Alabama Shakes, and even a special appearance by Chance the rapper! There were so many more artists there but those were just a gist of the well known artists.
What you’ll experience at a festival
Going to a festival is an experience unlike no other. Every single person there, are there to radiate positivity and good vibes. People are constantly ready to party and just jam out to the big bands that show. With my experience going to Bonnaroo 2015, there were more then 100,000 people there and I met so many individuals. On the first day its jam packed with people trying to unpack and set up tents, and yes, you camp for a week so seriously be prepared and bring tons of food, a fan, a portable grill (if possible), toilet paper, and portable charging outlet because having to pay for food there every day and having a dead phone to not take pictures of your experience there that'll suck. There were also tons and tons of shops there so you have to contain your wallet because trust me you will want to buy everything you see.
The best part about Bonnaroo was how everyone was so trusting and cheering every second of the day for the five days, it was insane! And it was private property so you know everyone was lit 24/7, it was a huge five day rave.
What was trending/what people wore
Wear as less clothes as possible! You’re there for five days, in the heat, and with showers but you have to pay $10 each time you take one so you’ll want to keep as cooled down as possible.
As for specific clothing that was trending for girls, I saw a ton of Bralettes with high wasted bikini bottoms or shorts, as well as mesh everything! People there loved showing off their bodies, so the term “free the nipple” was literal and it was great! There was definitely an indie/boho look there with tons of loose dresses, but also you had your skin tight crops and cheeky shorts! Tons and tons of face jewels such as bindhi’s , sparkles, tribal markings and Indian feathers head pieces were HUGE. And as well as head scarves and shades to keep you cooled down but looking cute.
As for the guys, even they were wearing barely any clothing, mostly nude if anything. I saw tons of funny costumes guys wore, the crazier the apparel the better. Guys rocked the tanks and shorts with bandanas and tribal face markings. Guys were also shown wearing indian feathered head pieces as well.
There were honestly no limits to the amount of skin people showed so it was really a free rage of whatever someone felt like wearing, they could without anyone stopping them.
Why you should go
Probably my favorite part of Bonnaroo was the fact that people could set out their blankets, sit, watch their favorite band and pull out a joint and smoke out in public. People could sleep anywhere they wanted so mostly would pass out under a tree on the soft grass that surrounded us because the atmosphere was THAT comfortable that you felt free.
People should definitely try a festival at least once because it is an experience you will never get anywhere else. It will truly change the person you are and your perspective on life, and yes that sounds cheesy but try a festival out for yourself and then you will see what Im talking about! Just the good vibes surrounding you makes you really get down to your roots and appreciate people, your surrounds, your outlook on life, and your style more. Going there I got tons and tons of ideas and styles Im wanting to try out now. So I guess you can say it was the best experience of my life and I'm definitely going back because it was lit.
I will come back to this place, its huge and open, and have really tall ceilings. Wait staff was also pretty good. Bartender was awesome and personable. I was really pleased with my party at venues for events. Ha! I highly recommend these guys.
