First let me introduce myself, I'm Mel and I've been recently asked to be a blogger for Providence hype which I'm pretty stoked about! I major in fashion but I've always been hype about fashion and all different types of trends out there. I’m always looking in to the new styles, but also it’s not always about following that mainstreams its also about expressing yourself and when you do that who knows, you can be the trend setter!
Today, I'm going to follow up on the topic of trends and how places you live affect what you wear and how you portray fashion, also about what new trends are said to be coming out “hinted by WGSN” in the near future.
It all comes down to location, we have five major fashion capitals; London, New York, LA, Tokyo, Paris, and Italy. All these places range of different styles and weather. All these five locations are the basic start of where trends start.
how they hit the states
Style and change are always affecting us. We want whats new and different constantly. We find new trends mostly through social media and celebrities but its more of just a fenominon really and our personal creativity.
how places you live affect how you portray your look
Being in to fashion I look at all places for inspiration. But depending on where you live has a huge impact on how you're portraying fashion
East coast east coast you're looking at two types of fashion inspirations. Theres the street look that gives you a rough edgy aspect of fashion. The street look has tons of abstract pieces to the outfit. The color People are always trending down there and giving off a badass vibe with the things they wear. Another look east coast gives off is the modern urban business look thats becoming very trendy. People are movings fast pase and dress “clean” as in their outfits are all put together so nicely and every part is thought through from there shoes to there heads.
West coast west coast are where the sun is shining all the time and you’re living the chill life. The style down there are laid back look with tons of vibrant cool colors. People are wearing comfortable loose clothing most of the time because of the weather and their living style.
Midwest midwest has a mix of styles. Since the weather tends to be up and down all the time we tend to dress according to the day. Lately the trends here have been the coffee shop look for boys and for the ladies its been laid back rebel look. The trends don't hit here as fast as the other states so midwest is usually late when it comes to trends.
As for countries like Tokyo, London, Paris and the UK, they are five years advanced than the US. They tend to wear unusual vibrant colored colors and their business attire are mad classy.
2015 trends
Lately, in 2015 the mens fashion is rising higher and higher. Girls fashion has always been booming so its staying as it is
.
For 2015 the years trends seem to be a throwback era. We’ve brought back the high wasted pants/shorts/skirts, scrunchies, chokers, and platform sneaks. For guys its been all about the name brands, high mens fashion clashing with layer back look, and kanye inspired.
2016 trends
What you can look forward for 2016 year are some more extreme trends, with abstracted and designs with purpose, like art. You can be looking more in to some DIY attitude fashion. Colors will me rough warm rustic and authentic. Most clothes with have eye catching cuts in their clothing. We can also look forward to some Indigo looks, “natural messy look” as you can say. 2016 will be all about craft.
As for more info for mens wear, you can look forward to some more non traditional bold clothing, such as crops or maybe even jade smith inspired mens “kilts/shorts so long they look like dresses”. These trends were inspired by designers who leak their input on WGSN, who have teams of trendsetters who's job are to figure out the trends before they happen.
- Well thats all for now! Ill be back to talk about some more topics but hope you enjoy<3
