Eat your Parents

Check out this interview and previews of the up and coming clothing line out of Tuscon Arizona called EAT YOUR PARENTS.

How long has the brand been around?

The idea for EAT YOUR PARENTS has been around since the 15th of February. So as of right now the idea has only been around for a little over a week. But in that week we have found two full time models, a photographer, an editor, we have had two full photo-shoots, created a promo video, and also come up with a logo and started on our website which is currently under development. While doing all of that we also designed the clothes that will be going in our Spring Summer 2015 collection. So yes a week is not a long time at all but we have made great strides in only that week. I’m excited to see what this next month has in store for us.

What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion can be a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Fashion is the way that people see the world, and as we know everyone see’s the world differently. There is no cookie-cutter answer to fashion, it’s different for everyone. What it means to us, and the entire EAT YOUR PARENTS team is the idea that you can still find trend and beauty in the basics, with enough attention to detail, simplicity can prove to be very powerful.

Why the name “EAT YOUR PARENTS”

When we first came up with the idea of EAT YOUR PARENTS we were sitting in the warehouse at the antique store we worked at, we were simply talking about how people make a living off of selling random stuff on Etsy. So naturally the question arose, “why can’t we do that?” then that idea slowly evolved into us making our own clothing brand. Jack had always thought it would be cool to name a clothing brand EAT YOUR PARENTS and essentially that is how it came to be.

What are some of the inspirations behind this brand?

We are heavily inspired by high fashion, Rick Owens, Raf Simmons, etc. The idea for EAT YOUR PARENTS was essential born from the separate tastes of the two of us, both of us being very interested in fashion. In the same regard, the idea of virtually living in the middle of nowhere can be seen in our clothes’ aesthetic, a sort of “grunge” look to it.

Where is this brand based out of?

Tucson, Arizona

What can we expect from your first collection?

Our first collection is more of a capsule if anything. It features high waisted stone washed jeans, The Fatale jeans, for girls along with a long sleeved white t-shirt, The Fatale shirt.. For guys we have black jeans, The Dead Beat, and a tall grey t-shirt. All of which are hand distressed.  Also we are talking about throwing in a few accessories, which will be announced later in the month. What we hoped to achieve with our first delivery of SS was a series of basics than can be incorporated into any outfit while still maintaining attention to details.

What made y’all want to start a clothing company?

We both were very emerged into the fashion culture, we had both experienced our own various phases of hypebeast-ery which taught us a great deal about trend. We decided that we might as well help pave the way for people who were in the same position as us with the brands we really liked.

What makes “EAT YOUR PARENTS” different from every other clothing line?

EAT YOUR PARENTS goes beyond clothing aesthetic. Our clothes display an entire story, an idea, and one that lets people wear it freely. We don’t concern ourselves with our price tag, we want people to focus on the design and the detail, and be able to deliver on that, without breaking the bank.

Where do you see your brand 5 years from now?

EAT YOUR PARENTS is very excited for the future. We have a lot of very unique and supportive people behind us right now that we know will take us places we could imagine from this position. The possibilities are endless for us; we just hope to never lose sight of the vision.

How can people keep updated with your clothing? And when can it be purchased and where?

We keep a well maintained Instagram that can be followed at “eaturparents”, we also have tumblr where we post more behind-the-curtain work as well as things we find that inspire us.
The collection will be available in it entirety on our site eatyourparents.com (currently under construction) on March 31st.

Even though you're brand hasn't been running for too long, we here at Providence Hype respect what "Eat Your Parents" are doing in the street wear world.
